IAS Exam Age Limits
The minimum age requirement is 21 years of age to take the CSE. While the maximum age allowed is 32 years for the general category. The maximum age for OBC candidates is 35 years of age and for SC/ST the limit is 37 years of age.

Number Of Attempts
Every candidate appearing for the UPSC exam gets a defined number of attempts based on their category.
SC/ST: Allowed infinite attempts till age 37
OBC: 7 attempts
General: 6 attempts

- Civil services preliminary exam (Objective Type)
- Civil Services main exam (Descriptive type)

AGE LIMIT
Must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 32 years on 1st August of the year of the examination, the upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable:
- Up to maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to scheduled cast or scheduled tribes.
- Up to maximum of three years. If a candidate belongs to other backward classes.
